Dental Implants are changing the way people live. For patients that lost teeth, dental implants can provide patients the ability to eat virtually anything and allows them to smile with confidence. Dental implants are completely safe and can be placed with patients who have gum disease, patients who smoke, or patients who have missing teeth and wear dentures. Implants can be used to replace one or more missing teeth or help provide stability to dentures. Implants are titanium posts that get inserted into the jaw bone. After the implant bonds with the existing bone to provide a solid foundation, the replacement tooth looks, feels and function like a normal tooth. Furthermore, implants prevent the bone deterioration that typically results when a tooth is missing.
When a tooth has to come out an implant can be placed at the SAME time. We numb you up the same way you get a filling. The tooth is gently removed to preserve and maintain the bone. The dental implants are placed gently into the missing area. Sometimes, bone grafting may have to be placed around the implant to ensure its stability. This is done at the SAME time you get the implant. If we can get primary stability of the implant, you can get a temporary tooth restoration on the implant the SAME day. You don’t have to wear your denture anymore. You go to the work the same day with minimal discomfort! You will NEVER be without teeth. Your denture will be adjusted the SAME day to fit over the area. After a period of healing, typically about 3-4 months, a replacement tooth can be placed.
