If left untreated, this infection can spread to the bone and cause bone loss. Furthermore, this infection can not only result in losing your teeth, but can also spread to the rest of your body. Periodontal disease has been associated with heart disease, diabetes, premature births and a slew of other systemic health problems. Sometimes, deep cleanings and antimicrobial treatment is not enough. More treatment is needed for periodontal health.

Whether you’re an adult or a child that want braces, the gums have to be healthy in order to move teeth. If the gums are not healthy, there is a greater likely hood that the teeth may exhibit periodontal disease or bone loss and may need to come out during orthodontic movement. Similarly, before moving teeth, you must make sure you have adequate thick tissue in your mouth before moving teeth otherwise recession of your gum tissue may occur. Soft tissue graft can be harvested and placed in the areas where you don’t have enough thick tissue. Once healing is complete and thick tissue is obtained, orthodontic treatment can occur. Minimal discomfort and swelling occurs. Start smiling with confidence again.
