Take A Bite Out Of Life

Take A Bite Out Of LifeFall is here and with it, festivities galore. Apple picking is at its peak here in New York State and the numerous varieties of apples make for wonderful pies, cakes, salads, and just plain eating fresh from the tree. There is nothing like crunching into an apple that was recently harvested. Unless you have dentures. Then you might feel more inclined to stick with eating applesauce instead of the fresh fruit.

The Denture Truth

Having dentures does not mean that your life is over; far from it. Dentures can provide you with a great smile and the ability to eat things that you simply can’t eat if you are missing teeth. Truthfully, having a denture plate does not mean that you don’t have to be careful in what you choose to eat. What could possibly be more embarrassing than having your plate get stuck in a crisp apple while you are enjoying with friends? God forbid anything fall out; you’ll be so embarrassed that you’ll turn as bright red as the apple you are trying to eat! Extra layers of denture adhesive paste won’t help either as your glue can only carry you so far. The rest is left to your own judgement and that means sacrificing things that you really would like to eat, but don’t trust. It doesn’t have to be this way.

At Shine Dental, we know that people just want to enjoy life and eat their favorite foods without having to worry about how their teeth will handle it. Happiness comes in many forms and the freedom to enjoy the bountiful fall harvest is one of them. If you have upper or lower dentures, we can help stabilize them so that you can crunch into that apple with gusto and not have to worry about what happens next. The secret is an open palate denture.

What Is This?

An open plate denture works by using dental implants to secure and stabilize the denture. The more implants we place, the more stable your denture will be. After the dental implants are fully integrated, the denture is secured into your mouth. Many times, we can use your existing complete denture plate to complete this process, but if we can’t, we’ll fabricate a new one. Once the denture is attached and fitted, you’ll feel the difference when it comes to the stability of your denture. Gone will be the days of gripping pastes and gels. You’ll be on your way to experiencing life as you knew it when you still had your own teeth. And that orchard-fresh apple will never taste better than when you can eat it and not have to worry about your teeth.
